Is This True For Guitar Beginners?

Question by anonymus: Is This True For Guitar Beginners?
My friend ,who has played violin and has guitar experience, told me that It doesn’t matter if a finger is touching more than one string as long as the finger is on the precise string. I probably explained it wrong. like, if I wanted to put my finger on the “E” string but it also touched the one right next to it (The “A” string) it wouldn’t matter because I put most of the finger’s pressure on the “E” string. tell me if I made sense, or if it’s true or false.

As long as the string is stretched over the appropriate fret (in contact with the appropriate fret) it doesn’t matter if more than 1finger is touching the string “above” (or further away from the guitar body) the fret.
