fender squier stratocasters or telecasters are good to start on. squier is the fender budget line. or maybe try a japanese made fender as they are made for smaller fingers and are easier to wrap inexperienced hands around. try musiciansfriend.com or guitarcenter.com
if you like the looks of a bigger guitar better try an epiphone dot
