Ok i am going to be starting electric guitar lessons here in a afew days. The place im taking lessons also sells guitars, Naturally i will ask them also but i just want an idea of what im going to be getting into. So anyone know a good electric guitar thats good and cost friendly? my budget will probably rank anywhere from one hundred to five hundred dollars

If you play Hard Rock/Metal/Grunge/Punk, Epiphone Les Paul
If you play Classic Rock, Squier Stratocaster
If you play Indie/Alternative, Squier Telecaster/Duo-Sonic/Jagmaster
If you play Reggae/Pop/pretty much anything else, any of those will do.
