I don’t know about guitar lessons in Toronto, but if you use iTunes, you might want to check out the free podcasts for beginning guitar. They actually have a few of them. One in particular is a video podcast that shows you the very basics. There are many great books if you’re into teaching yourself, such as the Mark Hanson series for Travis Picking. There are many famous musicians that taught themselves to play the guitar; some don’t even read music. You might also try checking your local colleges that offer non-credit courses.
